Assignment

This first real post about writing is just going to be an assignment for my English 402 class, so here is goes:

Assignment: Find a tabloid head line or make one up and write 200 words about it.

"Detective Posed as Corpse to Catch Funeral Parlour Vandals"

     The gig was real easy. All you had to do was pull off some of the less noticeable jewelry, maybe a ring or a necklace. People didn't really notice at first, but it was when Barney started going larger people began asking questions. It was easy to tell people that the jewelry wasn't there when the body was checked in but Barney could tell some people doubted him. He didn't care they didn't have anyway to prove what he did. That is until last Thursday.
     Barney had been trying to remove a ring off of the finger of one of corpses when it grabbed his hand. It is more disconcerting to be grabbed by a dead body then you can possibly imagine. The dead body sat up then, Barney still wide eyed. The man held up a badge and said something Barney couldn't understand, Barney's brain couldn't handle the thought of a corpse sitting up and talking. The officer took Barney's wrist and put a cuff around it. He knew he had his man.


I know it is crappy but that is okay, it is just a stupid assignment.
